Argon cylinders in India are painted peacock blue. Mixed-gas cylinders carry their own label, so always read the stencil.
Argon: the welder's shielding gas
Argon is an inert gas: it doesn't react with hot metal. In TIG and MIG welding it flows around the arc and the molten weld pool, keeping out the oxygen and moisture in air that would otherwise leave the weld porous, black and weak.
Common uses of argon gas
- TIG welding of stainless steel, aluminium, copper and thin sheet: pure argon is the standard shielding gas.
- MIG welding of aluminium and stainless steel.
- Argon + CO₂ mix for MIG welding of mild steel, giving a smoother arc and less spatter than pure CO₂.
- Back purging of stainless steel pipe welds in food, dairy and pharma plants.
- Laboratories: instruments such as ICP spectrometers and some gas chromatographs.

What we offer
- Argon cylinder refilling and exchange
- Argon + CO₂ welding mix: tell us the ratio you use
- Cylinders on deposit or rent for fabricators and workshops
- Delivery to workshops and plants in Kurnool and nearby towns
- Argon regulators and flowmeters
Argon safety
- Argon is heavier than air and can collect in pits, tanks and closed rooms, where it can cause suffocation. Weld in ventilated spaces.
- Use an argon regulator or flowmeter. For TIG welding, flow is typically around 8–15 litres per minute depending on the torch and job. More gas isn't better and just wastes the cylinder.
- Keep cylinders upright, secured and away from electrical welding circuits.
Questions about argon gas
Can I use CO₂ instead of argon for TIG welding?
No. TIG welding needs an inert gas such as argon. CO₂ is used for MIG/MAG welding of mild steel, but it will damage a TIG tungsten and weld.
Why is my argon cylinder finishing quickly?
The usual causes are a leaking hose or fitting, a flow rate set too high, or gas left flowing between welds. Check joints with soapy water and set the flowmeter to what the job needs.
Do you deliver argon outside Kurnool city?
Yes. We serve nearby towns such as Nandyal, Adoni, Yemmiganur, Dhone and Kodumur, and neighbouring districts. Call to confirm delivery timing.
