1. Know which gas your job needs
Most confusion starts here. People in Kurnool usually ask for gases by their common names ("oxygen", "DA", "argon") rather than chemical formulas, and that's fine. Here's a quick map:

You're really buying two things: the gas and the use of a cylinder. There are three common arrangements:
- Cylinder on deposit: you pay a refundable deposit for the cylinder and pay for gas at each refill. This is the most common option for small workshops and new businesses.
- Cylinder on rent: useful for short projects, site work or temporary needs.
- Your own cylinder: you bring it for refilling. Cylinders in India must be periodically examined and tested under the Gas Cylinders Rules, 2016, so an owner has to keep testing up to date.

3. Estimate how much gas you use
Running out halfway through a job is expensive. A simple way to plan:
- Note how many days one cylinder of each gas lasts you in a normal week.
- Add a margin for busy weeks and for delivery time to your location.
- Keep one full spare of each gas you can't work without, usually oxygen and DA, or argon for TIG shops.
If a cylinder seems to empty faster than it should, check for leaks with soapy water at every joint and review your regulator settings. Leaks and too-high flow rates are the most common causes of "short" cylinders.
4. What to tell your supplier when you order
Save a call-back by giving these details the first time:
- Gas name, and grade if it matters (for example lab or food use)
- Cylinder size and number of cylinders
- Refill of your cylinder, exchange, or new cylinder on deposit
- Delivery address or town, and when you need it
- Any regulator or accessory you need, such as electrodes or a flowmeter

5. Safety at your workshop
Industrial gases are safe when handled with a few basic habits:
- Keep cylinders upright and chained, and never roll or drop them.
- Use the correct regulator for each gas, and flashback arrestors on cutting sets.
- Keep oil and grease away from oxygen fittings.
- Store oxygen away from DA and other fuel gases, in a shaded, ventilated place.
- Close valves when work stops, and return empties with the valve closed.

Price per refill matters, but these matter just as much:
- Range: can you get all your gases and regulators from one place?
- Availability: are cylinders ready when you need them, including on Sundays?
- Delivery: do they deliver to your area, and how quickly?
- Advice: do they explain safe handling and help you choose the right gas?
- Track record: how long have they been in business, and what do customers say?
